L1 Association has been securing and proving for 19 years now that the presence of national and international contemporary and independent artists is vital to and constructive for the local dance scene.
When designing the programme of L1danceFest it is of utmost importance to include so-called OFF programmes (or accompanying events) thus emphasizing the festival‘s community building potential, its role in professional understanding, and in short its one-to-one, flesh and blood experience. Therefore, from the very beginning, various workshops, exhibitions, open discussions and other art forms have been characterizing the L1danceFest.
Besides many international artists it is as important as it was in the beginning to include works of local artists in the programme, with special focus on those of the members and resident artists of L1 Association. Due to current difficulties with international travel this year’s edition puts its focus mainly on Hungarian artists.

Intimate. Democratic. Honest. Absurd.

Photo-based collage series, featuring L1 Association’s artists as a model created. "Anything comes from nothing.” Most of the principles that determine humanity are religion, philosophy, technical inventions, and remedial methods based on oxymoron. During my day, as a sponge, I draw into the most trivial figures, phrasebooks, marketing, trends, logos, music fragments, politics, mood, ideas, religions, advertising, gestures, household waste, mimics, star-shaped stars, emblematic artworks, slogans, losing ethical and logical control, create an intimate order. Intimate. I'll just give you a map. In spite of its rigidity, aggressiveness of incoming information is carried out in solid indirect communication. Democratic. Does not give pre-digested points. There is no instant mouth-blowing, only tiny hidden costs. Honest. He puts everything in his toolbox fluxing in the NOW. Absolute. It transcends reality, decodes a context that pinpoints social-historical tendencies. As the dream of sleeping in the evening grabs your day's experiences, the collage also organizes the world and man's unspeakable system with the apparent confusion. A nostalgic snit. At the age of 5, I stood at the switchboard with the fast-paced speed of the Videoton color TV monitor: news signal, Fabulon smile, antfootball, lottery, antfootball, delta's snowstorm, panorama's typewriter, antfootball, musicboutique-musicboutique, antfootball. From the second of the epileptic flashes I know what the world is beyond the Operence. With my collage series, I present the artwork of the L1 Association’s members in their quality beyond Operence.

L1danceFest2020 the program on September 5. Saturday
18.00 – 19.00 EXHIBITION Syporca Whandal Pataphysics – a portrait series of L1 artists as a repetiton of the 2019 exhibition.
During the video presentation in this year Zsolt Varga improvised with his saxophone for my collages.

About Zsolt Varga:
"Musician, composer, sound and movement artist. In addition to the bands McLoecky,Bálványos Társulat, Limited Timpani, Tornaklub, Desert Chaos, MC Ribbentropp, a The Pasztorz, he has also played and plays in other occasional line-ups. Besides that he has been working with choreographer and contemporary dancer Márta Ladjánszki and the Cologne based IPtanz as a musician/composer/performer."
